NITS MUN

NITSMUN has introduced me to an amazing world that i am never gonna leave. I remember my first MUN experience like it was yesterday. Standing before me were smart, confident and diplomatic people that made me feel nervous and scared. When i got up to speak, i was feeling scared.. so i just read off a piece of paper. I was shaking and could not make an eye. But with time being passed  and coming to know maximum were first timers i also grew confidence in  myself....
Our chair and vice chair were damn cool and best part was that they were of our age.So there was not much problem in interaction....

The first informal session was also fun. There only i fell for my vice chair yar... She was very sweet,  kind and beautiful. The next day i indirectly proposed her and ya got 4 flying kisses too...made my day...

MUN has now become an inseparable part of my life. I am still have nightmares about MUN!! it had a huge impact on me believe me

Though on first day I did not spoke much but in the second session I did participate. I spoke to a few delegates I had already talked to, we agreed on similar points and decided to work together to create a working paper. We wrote a pretty good paper by session's end and ya I even gave a speech on 2nd day like everyone without hesitation. It was nerve-wrecking and I wanted to throw up, but I did it, and I realized it really wasn't all that bad (most people weren't even watching either lol). I did not win an award that day, but what I got out of that day was far more valuable than any award could ever be.
I learned to get over my fears and anxieties, to try even if I fail, and to participate in committee because I have a lot to contribute. It was a bit overwhelming at first, you never know what's going to happen, but once you jump in and participate it's a lot easier and everything you prepared for falls into place.
Just beware! You may become addicted to MUN after your first time trust me :)

#my choice

I am a staunch believer of feminism, and advocate it always. But this? No. This is not empowering, this is a bail, an excuse to do what you will. I respect women for all the great reasons in the world.. but the recent ‪#‎mychoice‬ video was just a disgrace for women and  humanity!! It was more like a viral seeking video.... I respect women for their self respect, being feminine and the motherly manner!! But not for those fickle messages in that video.. I repeat its a disgrace!
In this video the protagonist believes that if she is not questioned on any of her choices then it would apparently liberate her spirit . I believe this is a sheer immature and disillusioned take on ‘Women  Empowerment’ . Not being open to criticism on one’s own action (be it a male or female) or decision is a very exclusive approach and probably an elitist one at that. Empowering  women has to be more inclusive where a lot of external factors will have to play together to hand enough power to women which is equivalent to any other gender .This should enable woman to fend off self-righteous chauvinists  . All this cannot be done if one is not open to criticism . To realise such paradigm shifts external dynamics such as educators, awareness builders, media , colleagues , friends, families etc has to be consulted and one should not be frivolously arrogant. The issue lies at the grassroot level of upbringing/education/implementation of laws etc. Women liberation , in my opinion , has nothing to do with freedom of promiscuity or right to late night rave parties as indicated in the video.

Trust me after watching that video, the number of pseudo feminists are going too damn high.

This one for instance(#copied example with a bit of modification)

Mother to teenage daughter - Get up and study, exam hai na aaj?

Daughter - Whether I get up or not, #MyChoice. Whether I study or not #MyChoice. Whether I answer my exam or not, #MyChoice. Remember, books and classes are temporary. I am not. I may choose to attend my classes or skip them and go to a pub. To use books and pens to trap my soul is to believe you can halt the expansion of the universe. Whether I go to college or not, #MyChoice. My failure may be your pain. I may choose to be a drop-out or not. #MyChoice.

Mother - Are you out of your mind?

Daughter - You should see this feminist video Mom, it will change your life.

Mother - (After seeing the video). Give me your cell phone. Also, I am going to give away all your clothes to charity and am renting out your room from the first of next month. You are welcome to stay if you want, but please be prepared to pay rent.

Daughter - Why?

Mother - #MyChoice!

Leave all this... ;)

Deepika Padukone is my favourite actress. I respect her a lot. But after watching this i was like "has she lost it..." Just for promotion of her upcoming film she did this...

I seriously don't understand why Deepika suddenly start caring about women when her movies are round the corner! You make a video so that it reaches millions of girls wherein you open your bra straps and convey the message that cheating is a choice? Before making a choice, you gotta think about its consequences and take the responsibility of it. Size, Sexual preferences, Clothes is not goddamn feminism! Feminism is a term inculcated to bring about gender equality and not to prefer women over men. Grow up. You created heck of a controversy over the so-called "cleavage-row" and god knows this video is gonna fetch you so many "admirers" over facebook and twitter.

What an irony that the video ends with the logo of Vogue and probably it will be bigger winner given the number of people who would subscribe this magazine over the next week. Can you just imagine the outrage that would have sparked had all this "so-called choices" would have been associated with a man? I am dead sure that feminazis like you would have been the first ones to condemn it. What this video is doing is merely telling a whole generation of women to grow up in a bimbo culture—women can be comfortable with the choices they have made, as long as they fit the stereotypical definition of beauty and conform to the latest fashion trends. If you actually want to do something for women, work for them and fight for their rights, rather than promoting "sex outside marriage is cool"phenomenon.

"Freedom and empowerment is not something that can be sold through the glossy pages of a magazine. It can only come through experience and self knowledge."

What really matters/!!!!

We are all victims of the same crime, there is no running from it. We are also all guilty of this, too. You can’t help it, no one can. It can’t be stopped, and sometimes it hurts. Then you turn around and do what has been done to you. Passing judgment happens no matter what. Anyone who says that they do not judge others is lying.

Judgment is not always a bad thing, but it can be if it becomes a steadfast belief with nothing to back it up. If you know nothing about someone, how can you judge? Most of the time a judgment is nothing more than a false accusation. Forming an opinion about someone without getting to know him or her can be bad not only because it may be untrue, but because usually it is unkind. Compare how often you find yourself saying “Wow, what a nice person” to the number of times you say, “What a jerk” or other negative comments.

Often people make comments about others and don’t even believe what they say, but say it just for a laugh. Don’t deny it, you know you have done it. I admit I have, but you can make it right. Give that person a chance.

Judging others doesn’t lead to good. It’s how rumors get started, feelings get hurt, and tempers flare. You are better off keeping what you think buried because what really matters is the truth about you. I am writing this because all my life people have judged me, pointing fingers and saying things that stay with me. Others have started rumors, and why? For a laugh.

If you heard something said about you that was hurtful and untrue, how would you feel? What would your first reaction be? To judge them, probably. You’d say, “That person is mean.” Do you know this is true? If you think so then you believe it about yourself because you have judged and insulted that person in return. Now these two people will go through a lot of time with hearts filled with resentment.

Give people a chance. Talk to those whom you wouldn’t normally and get to know them. You are no better than they and they are no better than you. They could end up being really cool.

There is no way to stop others from judging; it is natural. But don’t let it get the better of you. You don’t know who someone is because of what you hear about them. Form your opinions from what you experience.

Take a chance. People who didn’t know me and who judged me for themselves took a chance and we formed great friendships. Give it a try. Think about what really matters in life.

My take on India's Daughter

I saw ‘India’s Daughter’ on YouTube the day it was released online. Despite the hue and cry it had generated, the video had a mere 103, 895 views, around 8 hours after it was uploaded. A Bollywood item number would easily have crossed a 10 million.

I think the director did an impressive job of speaking all the key issues and a bit more. The documentary is quite touching and thought provoking. The multitude of the reasons why the crime has happened are explored and the gruesome details of her brutal and inhuman violation are vividly shown. The heart wrenching interview of the girl's parents made me well up though. The way the accused mukesh singh puts up his thoughts are scary, to say the least. The documentary for me was indeed a masterpiece and the viewer is left to draw his or her own conclusions.

Well for me it was turned out somewhat like this

First of all i wanna say is that Jyoti Singh was a very lucky girl. although born in a traditional family, her parents had a modern outlook. She was encouraged to study and fulfil her dreams and was treated like a male child.Just imagine the millions of girls out there whose parents don't have a modern outlook. Their dreams are crushed so early that they dare to hope or think of their dreams. The only future they think is to get a husband.

The Pati Parmeshwar("husband is everything") mindset has cross the hysterical limits. Yes many people were disturbed by the comments made by the two lawyers defending the rapist.

I wanna ask a simple question out here "who the fucking authority made such ill and filthy minded people lawyers"

The statements made by one of the lawyer M.L Sharma ""in our society we never allow girl to come out after 6.30 or 7.30 or 8.30 in evening with unknown person...

they left our Indian culture and were under the imagination of film culture....
you are talking about man and woman as friends.  Sorry, that doesn't have any existence in our society.  A woman means,I immediately put the sex in his eyes"" What the fuck is this.  How can such a jerk be a lawyer. His thinking is so fickle and out of the world. this comments are against the womanhood in general.

What really disturbed me more was the statement made by the wife of one of  the rapists. She said " without a husband i have no life, who will protect me, who will look after me... better i should die"  Just take a hypothetical scenario where the court acquits the man,  this lady seems quite willing to accept this man as her husband back. This is what her family and society would also advise her to do.

Instead of encouraging her to walk out of him and become an self-independent woman, educating her, giving her confidence and skills to lead her own life, her mindset is made so low and fickle minded.  ""Because you see woman have no life if they have no husband... Buzz off ""

What is wrong with people, i just can't understand. Has humanity no place in your mind and heart.

we can't improve our images by hiding the truth, we do it by accepting the truth and changing ourselves for the better. Only by improving our mindset with argumentative information exchange, we achieve that.Well solutions have to be thought of to eradicate the rape culture that is prevailing in India.

Beefing up an educated police force that handles sex crimes and cleaning up the legal system to punish the guilty severely with no mercy(they are simply animals in the face of humans)
From childhood i have heard that we should educate girls but now its high time that instead of girls we should educate boys.

Putting a ban actually reflects the government has the same mindset as the rapist and the lawyer... if u think that it would be shameful for India, I feel it is more shamefull not to hang the rapists. No wonder why 1 rape happens every 20 minutes making India a Rape capital on the world map. And it is actually very much rooted by the way a MALE CHILD is treated and brought up here in India. If you look into each family, you will know that we are brought in such an environment where atleast one of these crimes have been comitted.. dowry, marital rape, domestic violence, preference of male child over female, female foeticide, adultry is committed and we are so used to it that we think its normal. Men today are okay having an extra marital that doesn't disturb their family. They can keep a balance between the 2. I am yet to see a wedding where there is no dowry, except for when both have fled n wed. To hit wife and say... its our personal matter, she'z my wife and wife accepting it, marital rape..people do not even know it is a crime and 95% men commit it, while women never stop coz its ok if it is husband. This mentality is part of our upbringing... so to stop crime against women, we need 2 change the way we Indians are brought up.

Happy woman's day

Like every year, its 8th of March and like every year we are still fighting for the gender equality, women rights and safety of women. Everyone is going about discussing of the assaults women face, the discrimination they come across and the pain of intimidation they suffer from. But hold on, I am not gonna discuss about it. Its a beautiful day and trust me, for the whole day there would be only two kinds of activities:
Happy Celebration of Women’s day.
Celebration full of struggle for women rights.
Today let me just turn it other way
Can we Indians imagine a husband parenting and nursing his child at home, doing all the housework and the wife dedicating her full time to a well paid job, and on returning home, dictating her husband on what to do?
Aren’t we confused at this role reversal? We start scratching our heads as to why this reversal seems so out of order………Why can’t we accept women dictating men, and men taking the complete responsibility of child care and household work, but accept the other way round?
This is because of the stereotypes we have been seeing and experiencing in this male-dominated society we are living in. A close look would reveal that such differences among men and women are not linked to any biological differences but because of different roles assigned by the society.
The discrimination faced by women begins from their birth itself. As soon as a child is born families and society begin the process of gendering. The birth of the son is celebrated with great pomp and happiness while the birth of a girl child becomes a source of grief. The son, is seen as the bearer of the family name is seen as the future source of income, as a type of insurance. The girl is looked down upon as a burden to the family. "May you be the mother of a hundred sons" is a common Hindu wedding blessing. This is the reason why there are many cases of female infanticide or female foeticide mainly in many rural areas and even in some urban areas in India.
Similarly boys experience preferential treatment when it comes to education and other facilities, since the Indian mentality has an opinion that the resources used for the male child is like an investment. However girls are either left uneducated or not given higher education because of the mentality that the resources used for girls would go waste as one day she would be married off. Moreover they see education as a reason for high dowry, a real root of many problems in India. A girl’s identity is forged as soon as her family and society limit her opportunities and declare her to be second-rate.

In India, gender-biased societal setup is the main cause for gender inequality. In a patriarchal society as in India, the male is always the head of the family, and the centre of power and authority because of the role of family earning assigned to him. Though women play an important role in the survival and maintenance of household, their position in household decision making is always secondary, as the role of household labour assigned to them is unpaid, and treated as unproductive labour.
Even in the economic sphere, women are paid less than men for the same work. Also, for jobs, promotion, undertakings, men are always preferred over women. Also women are mostly employed in the unorganised sector and their participation in organised, high paid jobs is still very less. Whether women work outside their homes or not, the household responsibility always vests with them!

Gender inequality has adverse impact on development goals as reduces economic growth. It hampers the overall well being because blocking women from participation in social, political and economic activities can adversely affect the whole society. Moreover it takes away basic rights entitled to all humans irrespective of their differences.
Education is the tool that can help break the pattern of gender discrimination and bring lasting change for women in developing countries. Women who have had some schooling are more likely to get married later, survive childbirth, have fewer and healthier children, and make sure their own children are educated. They also understand hygiene and nutrition better and are more likely to prevent disease by visiting health care facilities. Girls' education also means comprehensive change for a society. As women get the opportunity to go to school and obtain higher-level jobs, they gain status in their communities. Status transforms into the power to influence their families and societies.
Also equally necessary is the importance of the family members in supporting education for the girl child and acquaintance with ideas of liberalism, and social change. Women have proved themselves whenever they have been given a chance, in all spheres, be it social, economic or political. Hence it is the most important to give women the chance they deserve, as equal humans.
And today on woman’s day the ex UN Secretary General Kofi Annan said, "Gender equality is more than a goal in itself. It is a precondition for meeting the challenge of reducing poverty, promoting sustainable development and building good governance."

Well my advise for all girls and woman out there is ::
You have to do what is right for yourself, nobody else is walking in your shoes. Be the boss of your life. You just can’t depend upon others, when the whole day is all about you.
Dream! Achieve! Earn the Respect – Not for others but for your own happiness.! What if they discourage you or disrespect you- this world stops those who are capable of creating a history. And if there is no opposition, whats the fun in reaching to a position. Nobody can support you but may be everybody can. But why do you need them?

Your Life! Your Decision! Your Aim! Your Recognition!
You can be the Chief Executive Officer or The Chief Technical Officer or The Chief Legal Officer. It depends upon you and only on you. You have the choice – Either listen to what the world says or Follow what your heart says. Don’t be the one in a million kind of a girl. Be the once in a lifetime kind of woman.

Believe in yourself. Be Good. Do Great!
Happy Women’s Day.!
