NITSMUN has introduced me to an amazing world that i am never gonna leave. I remember my first MUN experience like it was yesterday. Standing before me were smart, confident and diplomatic people that made me feel nervous and scared. When i got up to speak, i was feeling scared.. so i just read off a piece of paper. I was shaking and could not make an eye. But with time being passed and coming to know maximum were first timers i also grew confidence in myself....
Our chair and vice chair were damn cool and best part was that they were of our age.So there was not much problem in interaction....
The first informal session was also fun. There only i fell for my vice chair yar... She was very sweet, kind and beautiful. The next day i indirectly proposed her and ya got 4 flying kisses too...made my day...
MUN has now become an inseparable part of my life. I am still have nightmares about MUN!! it had a huge impact on me believe me
Though on first day I did not spoke much but in the second session I did participate. I spoke to a few delegates I had already talked to, we agreed on similar points and decided to work together to create a working paper. We wrote a pretty good paper by session's end and ya I even gave a speech on 2nd day like everyone without hesitation. It was nerve-wrecking and I wanted to throw up, but I did it, and I realized it really wasn't all that bad (most people weren't even watching either lol). I did not win an award that day, but what I got out of that day was far more valuable than any award could ever be.
I learned to get over my fears and anxieties, to try even if I fail, and to participate in committee because I have a lot to contribute. It was a bit overwhelming at first, you never know what's going to happen, but once you jump in and participate it's a lot easier and everything you prepared for falls into place.
Just beware! You may become addicted to MUN after your first time trust me :)
